Peter started his coaching journey back in 1989 when he was asked to coach for Hawaii Youth for Christ in a summer outdoor tournament. The love of coaching struck and he has coached ever since.

1990 - he left for college in Colorado and assisted with the college volleyball team as well as played tennis for the University. He returned in 1994 to Honolulu to take care of his mother who was very ill.

From 1994-1998 - Upon returning home, he was asked to coach tennis at his Alma Mater, coached volleyball at multiple schools and the Hawaii Volleyball Academy. He was mentored by 2 of the best volleyball coaches in the area. Guy Enriques and Hansen Nuuhiwa.  

 

1998, Peter moved to Eugene, OR from Honolulu, HI and coached for Emerald City Volleyball and University of Oregon Mens Club Team

 

2000, NW Volleyball Academy was created in the Wilsonville / Lake Oswego area where Coach Peter was coaching high school volleyball. He realized that unless you were the best of the best, that there were not any good volleyball "training" programs in the area.

2000-2019 - Peter has coached at Wilsonville HS, Lake Oswego HS, University of Portland, Oregon Episcople (tennis and volleyball) and Wilson HS (tennis and volleyball). He also had stints coaching middle school at Kings Way, Thomas Jefferson and Ridgefield (View Ridge).

2000 Started NWVBA in Portland (Wilsonville/Lake Oswego)

2002 NWVBA moved into SW Washington

2002 - 2013 - NWVBA ran programs in Portland and in Vancouver, WA (14 Teams)

2003 - Present - NWVBA/One Ohana started Beach Volleyball in SW Washington

2013 - 2015 - NWVBA opened The Apex in Vancouver, WA (12 Teams)

2015-2017 - Medical Leave

2017 -2020 - One Ohana Volleyball started up Private and Small Group training out of Club Green Meadows

September 2020 (Middle of Pandemic) - Present  - One Ohana Volleyball opens the One Ohana Performance Center

2020 - 2021 - Focused on Private and small groups to accomodate for COVID. 

2021 - Started the ACADEMY...

2022 - Created 2 Travel Team (U18 Only)

September 2023 - Signed a lease extension to commit to the longevity of our prgram for the future of volleyball in SW Washington
